Baby Doll is the nineteenth episode of the series George and Martha that aired on May 30, 1999. It's sister episode is The Acting Class.

Summary[]

George and Martha are cleaning up. Jokingly, Martha sucks up George's large bottom with her vacuum, making him yell at Martha telling her to stop fooling around, although Martha states she likes to have fun while she cleans. Oscar and Wilde come to the house with their little puppy, Baby Doll. They ask the two if they could babysit him while they go out on vacation for a day. George isn't really satisfied with him, however. Oscar and Wilde show he's a smart puppy and tell Baby Doll to fetch George's slipper. George decides that he has no choice but to babysit this crazy pet.

Martha mentions how many instructions he has, but George rips the list up claiming that it's not hard to look after such a little dog. George's stomach growls, so Martha tells him to look after Baby Doll while she goes to get a pizza. George starts cleaning again, and Baby Doll bites the mop. He drags George all around the house, causing ruckus. Baby Doll also bites the couch pillow, until it rips when both of them try to take it. Martha arrives and scolds him for making a big mess in the house, not taking that it was really Baby Doll, who is a little dog. Baby Doll then wants to go outside, so George has no choice but to walk him.

Baby Doll walks to the tree and George rushes him to go to the bathroom. But sees Ivan the cat and starts to chase him, once again dragging George with him with his leash. Baby Doll goes through a hole in the fence and continues to chase Ivan, but George is too big to fit in it, so he ends up losing the puppy. In town, he calls out for Baby Doll, when three penguins tell him he could "use a shower" as he's all dirty from running around, so they spray the water on him. George finds Baby Doll at home with Martha, who tells him that it was irresponsible of George to lose the puppy, even though Baby Doll lost George. As George is ready to eat his pepperoni pizza, Martha reminds him to feed Baby Doll before he eats, so he splats canned dog food in his bowl. Baby Doll is not willing to eat that slop in his bowl, so George teases Baby Doll with a tiny piece of the pizza, however Martha says that giving pizza to a dog is not good for them. Nevertheless, Baby Doll jumps up and snatches the pizza piece from George's hand. George gets down on the floor to try and lure Baby Doll into thinking his food is delicious, but Baby Doll climbs up the table and munches the whole pizza, and once again George takes the blame.

George locks Baby Doll in a room, saying this was the last straw. George wishes Baby Doll could've never stayed with them, which he hears and decides to leave. George realizes that he had been too tough on the little puppy, so he agrees to let him out and have dessert. But when they go into the room they find it completely empty. George and Martha try looking all around town, but they are unable to find him anywhere, and nobody had seen him. Fortunately, they find him right in front of George's front door. George and Baby Doll go to sleep, and he lets him sleep on his bed. The next morning, George makes pancakes for Baby Doll and Martha, as he agreed to Oscar and Wilde that they can extend their vacation for a couple of days while he keeps Baby Doll. Though Martha says not to overdo the sweetness, as Baby Doll shakes her syrupy pancake.
