Goodnight Moon and Other Sleepytime Tales is a half-hour special that aired on HBO and HBO Family in December 1999. It was a co-production with what was then known as the Children's Television Workshop, soon to become Sesame Workshop.

- The special is infamous for its final ending scene with a child named Joe Cirkiel, better known as the "Have You Ever Had a Dream Like This Kid" that has trouble forming a sentence and repeating fragments. This scene has since become an internet meme.
- One of the kids shown before the "Tar Beach" segment is shown wearing a Rugrats sweater.
- A little girl shown before the "Braham's Lullaby" segment is shown wearing suspenders with the word "Pooh" on them.
- "There's A Nightmare In My Closet" has been censored compared to its original book version. In the book, the protagonist uses a toy gun to ward off the nightmare. This is changed to a toy sword in the adaptation.
