Picture Day Predicament is the 36th episode of the series Esme & Roy that aired on March 2, 2019. Its sister episode is Top Dog.
Summary[]
Esme gives Roy a surprise in a box. He can't wait to open it, but first, Esme gets her camera & takes a picture of him opening it. The present is none other than his favorite food: a meatball. The MonsterCase toots its horns & Esme says that today, they are watching Tillie.
The two arrive & Mr. Plink invites them in. He's getting Tillie ready for school because it is school picture day & the Monster Sitters are taking her to school, so it's important that Tillie stays clean because they don't want a repeat of previous years when Tillie has gotten dirty in her photos. According to Roy's Monster Factbook, Plink monsters like Tillie love getting dirty. Esme & Roy agree to not let it happen this year. As soon as her father leaves for his important Monster Meeting, they do too. But right there, they are met with their first obstacle, sprinklers shooting slime. Tillie loves the slime but Roy quickly covers her, remarking that she needs to be clean. Esme knows how to get past them & has them play Red Light, Green Light stopping whenever a sprinkler flows to them.
That is easy, but on their way Tillie constantly sees messy things that she is fascinated with, such as slimy flowers & frogs, but Esme & Roy get her away from them & not a single spot is gotten on her. When they get to the school, they have to cross a muddy field. Tillie attempts to jump into the mud but Roy catches her in time, so Roy gives her a monsterback ride. Tillie really wants to play in the mud, covering Roy's eyes & they get back to the side they were on. Tillie really wants to play in the mud & starts having a Monster Meltdown because she can't wait anymore. Esme has Tillie take a deep breath, count to 3 & repeat the phrase: "Keep mud away on picture day".
She also has an idea to get safely across the mud, to turn it into an obstacle course. With the help of The MonsterCase, Esme & Roy get pool noodles & hoops to make a balance beam, hurdles, & more hoops. Tillie excitedly competes in the course & so does Roy. She gets to the other side without a drop of mud, though Roy, completely muddy, thought it was awesome. After taking her picture, Esme & Roy let Tillie play in the mud for real this time, & The MonsterCase snaps shots of her having fun.
