Smart Mouth was an interstitial series of shorts that aired in-between shows during commercial breaks on HBO Family in 1999, alongside its sister segment, Who Knew?. It later aired during the Magnet block starting from its launch in 2001, and occasionally aired during Jam or during miscellaneous Afternoon Programming, like Who Knew?, starting from 2005. The interstitial series is based on the segment "Distraction News", from the popular HBO Family show, Crashbox.
Synopsis[]
The series is hosted by Dora Smarmy from Crashbox and set in a different broadcast set from the one in the "Distraction News" segments. Dora Smarmy talks about different types of fancy words, using examples from her personal life to explain what they mean.
These shorts were produced during the first season of Crashbox, as evident by Dora Smarmy's appearance resembling her design used in the first season.
Episodes[]
While it is currently unknown how many episodes of Smart Mouth were produced or aired, it's likely that at least 40-80 were produced, similar to other Cuppa Coffee Interstitial Shorts. As of now, twenty of the series' episodes (either 20/40 or 20/80 episodes) have been found; 9 from the first production block, and 11 from the second.
Similarly to HBO Family: 411, the shorts were produced in (at least) two different production blocks. Dora Smarmy, along with the Smart Mouth set pieces, are in a different position, and the plant it completely different. Shorts in the first production block are marked with (1), while shorts in the second production block are marked with (2).
