The Blabbermouth is the 41st episode of the series George and Martha that aired on April 1, 2000. It's sister episode is Life and Breath.

Summary[]

George gives Martha a tray of lemonade, three cookies, and apples with cinnamon. George knows exactly what she likes and how she likes her stuff, in fact, he's positive that he knows everything about Martha. Martha says that they couldn't know everything about each other, as she has secrets. She refuses to tell George her secrets, as he will laugh. George says he won't, and brings up that he has a secret too. Martha wants to hear it, so she agrees to tell him her secret. She whispers it, and he starts laughing out loud. George also tells her his secret, and they both vow to never ever tell their secrets.

George enters Oscar and Wilde's book store. They greet him with "Hey George, what do you know?" and he says that he knows things. He appears all secretive around the two, making them suspicious that there's something that he wants to tell them. Unfortunately, he spills that there's a secret of Martha, which they want to know. He tries to run in the store, but Oscar and Wilde chase him around the store guessing what this secret could possibly be. Eventually, George says that the secret is her beauty mark which looks as big as a rutabaga. He realizes his mistake and runs off.

George worries at his home that Martha won't want to be his best friend anymore. He tries to come up with a way to reason with her, and talks to a picture of Martha saying that Oscar and Wilde are just mindreaders, but he still has a bad feeling. Martha then comes to the book store to sit and read and Oscar and Wilde tease her subtly with puns, and then a rutabaga book. Wilde even tries to look at the beauty mark, but then it hits Martha and realizes that George told them her secret. Martha walks back angered, and tells Penny what happened. She loudly says that she doesn't run around telling everybody that George can't tie his shoes, which is his secret. She tries to quickly say that he can, but it's too late, and George's secret is now with Penny, who of course goes and tells everyone.

Now, Martha is upset that he will be mad at her. George comes to her house with a gift and flowers to apologize telling Martha's secret to Oscar and Wilde, but Martha accepts his apology. George is relieved that this turned out to be easier than he thought, but now he's hungry after worrying. The two step out to get ice cream. Penny talks about George's problem, with Martha wanting to hurry before she could tell him. Though, Penny says that her cousin couldn't tie his shoes either. George is upset with Martha, even though he told her secret first. Nevertheless, they both declare themselves blabbermouths. Martha teaches George how to tie his shoes, which he remembers why he never wanted to tie his shoes as they are tight on his feet. Martha shows George her beauty mark, which is actually quite small, though it is shaped like a rutabaga. George laughs, but finds it beautiful.
