The Cold is the 27th episode of the series George and Martha that aired on February 19, 2000. It's sister episode is The Campout.
Summary[]
George and Martha play with a band, while Bud and Valerie dance and chuckle. Anton ends up sneezing on everybody, as he has a cold. George says he's a "germfest" and scolds that Anton will infect everybody, but Martha tells him that's enough and says to Anton that he should be home. Anton guesses so, and asks George to take care of his trombone, which George says to put down many inches away from him.
Later, Martha skates outside and tells Maurice that it is a gorgeous day, but he doesn't think so as he also has a cold, and can't smell a thing. Oscar and Wilde also walk by and are sick as well. Martha bumps into Ivan who has a bag full of medical supplies, and she learns that Bud and Valerie are also sick. Even George has a cold and is in bed. Martha visits him and he complains about his aches and pains, so Martha says that today is his "lucky day" and she will comfort him until he gets better. First she gives him a glass of ginger ale, then he asks her to fluff his pillows continuously until she removes one. When George is about to sneeze, Martha rushes to his bed and covers his nose with a tissue, then the next time it's powerful enough to blow her off.
That night, Martha feeds him chicken noodle soup. George asks her to blow on it, and even asks her to feed him. Afterwards, Martha tells a story while acting it, which George asks her to read again. The next morning, while Martha is out in the backyard, George calls her again as he can't reach the tissues. Martha is starting to get annoyed, and sees that Maurice, Oscar and Wilde are looking better, which makes her think.
In reality, George feels better, but he pretend to still be sick in bed. He sniffs an onion and puts his thermometer in a kettle of tea. Martha comes in and gives him some flowers and looks at his thermometer, which is normal, and he doesn't have a fever either. She also smells the onion, which George pretends to hide and also pretends that he can't smell, and also pretends to talk sorely. But George smells the roses which tells the truth, making her leave. Later, the band plays outside his house. George wants to go practice with them but Martha tells him to stay in bed and get better, then comes out saying he's cured. Martha ends up sneezing, startling everyone away. George agrees to help her get better.
