The Scary Movie is the fifth episode of the series George and Martha that aired on April 3, 1999. It's sister episode is The Book.
Summary[]
George, Martha, Oscar, and Wilde are in the backyard for a cookout. George is cooking ribs at the grill while Martha and Oscar eat the corn on the cob, and Wilde serves drinks. Martha admires Wilde's garden, which has bushes carved into animals. A flock of pigeons fly around George's cooking, trying to take the meat. After the food finishes, the four sit and eat.
Wilde says that the ribs remind him of the scary movie that he and Oscar have seen, The Mummy's Toe. George exclaims that he loves scary movies, much to the surprise of Martha. Wilde wraps up a rib and explains to them that the mummy is grabbed while he slides across the room, but Oscar tells him not to spoil the movie for the two. Martha brings up that she has never seen a scary movie before, but because George seems to be ecstatic, she agrees that they should see the movie later in the afternoon.
They go to the movie theater and are greeted by Eton, the ticket seller in the box office who is a python. George gives him a dollar for two tickets to The Mummy's Toe, which he warns to the two that it is really scary. George and Martha head into the theater lobby. George looks at some of the movie posters which all look creepy, and deep down George seems to be scared, but he keeps a high profile for Martha. The two go to the concession stand where they are greeted by Eton again. George orders two bags of popcorn, then they head into the theater. But again, they meet Eton who agrees to help them find their seats while shining a flashlight that disturbs the animals inside. He informs the two that they should avoid the left side of the theater because skunks got so scared that they stunk the place. George and Martha decide to sit up in the front.
Eton plays the organ which begins the film. It is heard that the doorbell rings and someone answers it, assuming it is their mother for dinner, but it is actually the mummy. Everyone, including George, is horrified, but Martha really enjoys the scares. Later the person in the movie catches the mummy's foot, and unwraps it. Everyone shrieks once more at the toe, and George even makes all his popcorn fly on the people behind him. They go back home as the sky gets stormy, and later that night George shakes under his blanket as it thunders and lightning flashes. He gets frightened by his bathrobe, his lamp, and even by Martha who comes by. She was a little frightened, so she came over to George's house to feel a bit better.
