The Tooth is the second episode of the series George and Martha that aired on April 1, 1999. It's sister episode is The Dance Recital.

Summary[]

Martha puts on her roller skates, while Bud and Valerie Chuckles play hopscotch hilariously. She tells George, who is also roller skating, that she hopes it's not too dangerous, but George, who seems to have protection even on his bottom, tells her not to be such a fraidy cat. Bud and Valerie tell the two that they should play hopscotch with them as it has no numbers or squares, although George comments that's like playing tennis without the net, making the two laugh even harder.

Martha rolls off, and so does George slowly, but after noticing that he's not falling, he proclaims that he is a natural and skates after Martha, who teases George to catch her. Though compared to Martha, George's skating is more rocky than hers, as he has near run-intos with some of his animal friends. Eventually he catches up with Martha, who just taps him on his nose and skates faster, until stopping in between Stretch the Giraffe's legs, while he was with Duke the Toucan telling a joke that described Martha. George also passes but he then sees the ice cream truck, which everybody chases after. George can't stop wheeling, and crashes into the truck when it parks. His tooth flies out and lands in the ice cream elephant's cone, and he ends up eating it, saddening George as it was his "favorite tooth".

George and Martha go to the dentist, Buck McTooth. When it is George's time to go Martha asks if she can go in with him, but George says he's a grown up. Inside, he meets McTooth who is a hippo just like he is, as well as the flamingo nurse. The two seemingly like to joke around with George, but McTooth tells him to open wide and does his dentistry work on him. After it finishes, George looks in the mirror and exits the office with his tooth covered by his hat. Martha calls him at home and asks if he wants to go out and play in the sprinkler, but he refuses. He also refuses to do anything else she suggests. Martha decides that she has to get him out of the house. She goes over with a box of pizza and rings the doorbell, then places it and hides with a fishing rod attached.

George comes out and tries to get the pizza, but it keeps moving. Then Martha comes to his door and goes inside, shutting him out. Martha just wants a little look at his tooth, so he comes in and shows her his gold tooth. Martha laughs at it, telling him that he doesn't look ridiculous, and looks handsome and distinguished. George smells the pizza and its toppings, saying that Martha always knows how to cheer him up.
