Summary[]
One morning, George wakes up rise and shine by his rooster alarm clock named Rusty. He calls Martha and puts the phone near Rusty's loud crowing, which also wakes Martha up from bed. He tells her that because he owns a boat, he will take Martha on a cruise, which excites her. There will be exotic parts that they will see, shuffleboarding, dancing by the moonlight, and an all you can eat buffet. Martha comes out her house dressed up nicely, where her neighbor Penny questions why she's up so early. She tells her about the cruise, and Penny says that it's not as good as it sounds, and lists some things why. Nevertheless, Martha isn't worried.
George, who has a hat and a bubble pipe, picks Martha up and they go to the dock where they find plenty of beautiful yachts. Martha looks around and questions which of them is their own boat, but they eventually find it. It is titled the "S.S. Martha" and it is a little wooden boat with a motor. Martha says it was not at all what she expected, although, George tells her to use her imagination, as it's the secret in the seafaring life. George tumbles into the wooden boat, and so does Martha. George gives the boat a push and pulls the cord to start the motor, but it doesn't start no matter how he pulls it, and then it comes off, while the motor smokes and sputters.
Nevertheless, George begins cruising the boat, until it starts sputtering more. Martha thinks that they should turn back around, but George claims that every great voyage is fought with peril, so this thing is typical, and is sure that it just needs a rest when the boat stops moving completely. Stranded in the sea for a bit, a bigger boat with two rescue seals arrive, wondering if George and Martha need help. Martha tries to talk to them but George states that those are pirates and tries to shoo them off. Martha insists that the two are just using their imaginations, so the seals leave them. George gets out two oars and starts paddling back.
The sky turns into gray clouds and it begins raining. Captain George starts rocking the boat, claiming that it's not him and it's the "terrible typhoon". Martha wants him to cut it out, as it's only just a sprinkle, but George answers her with a pirate-ish insult. When the sun shines again, Martha is hungry. George serves the two lunch, which are two little crackers that are soggy due to the rain. However, he says that she can imagine it is just an all you can eat banquet, so she does, and imagines it is delicious desserts after he has eaten his cracker. Suddenly, Martha asks if he has felt something, and she hits the side of the boat, claiming that it is a shark. She begins rocking the boat and George falls into the water. Even though she says that she made up the sharks, George doesn't believe her and asks to her rescue. But she also falls into the water, and the S.S. Martha sinks. Luckily, the rescue boat from earlier comes to their help. They return back to land and back home, where Penny asks to hear every detail about their cruise. Martha tells her that she'll just have to use her imagination to learn about it, and George and Martha give Penny their damp towels.
