What's Mine is Mine is the 49th episode of the series Babar that aired on March 11, 1991.

Summary[]

Arthur returns from another journey, and sees an incredible boat he wants to buy, but he cannot afford it right now. He meets Charlie Digger who saw Arthur eying that boat when he first saw him. He finds a deed to a tin mine flying around and decides to trick Arthur into helping him get the boat. While in the mine, Charlie plants a gold nugget for Arthur to find, and when Arthur does find it, he signs the deed. Arthur takes the gold nugget to Babar and Pompadour confirms that this nugget is pure gold, after he leaves, Babar is suspicious about Arthur finding gold in a tin mine, so he asks Pompadour to look into Mr Diggers deals. Meanwhile in Rhinoland, the mud spa is dried up and Rataxes tells Basil that this is a national crises since the citizens need their monthly mud bath or their skin will be dry. When Basil does find some mud, there is barely enough for everyone. Arthur goes to the Malt Shop to celebrate his new mine and he asks Zephir to celebrate with him. While they are celebrating Babar comes to the Malt Shop and introduces him to Ferdinand someone who also had dealings Mr Digger, he sold Ferdinand a fancy beach house, but instead, Ferdinand got a rundown hut, in short Babar tells Arthur that Mr. Digger is a conman.

At the palace, Arthur tries to tell Babar that there has to be some gold in the mine since the nugget is pure gold, but Babar tells him he felt for a trick called Salting a Mine, but tells Arthur he can work the mine by mining for tin. Arthur asks Babar if he can get out of this somehow, but the contract he signed was perfectly legally and unfortunately, it also meant that Arthur could not sue Charlie Digger as he would not have a leg to stand on. Arthur and Zephir leave and he decides to get revenge on Charlie Digger by tricking him. The next day Charlie meets up with Arthur (who now has a fancy suit) to celebrate at the malt shop, Zephir congratulates Arthur on becoming the new Celesteville millionaire which shocks Charlie, Arthur than says that 10 minutes later he came out with a cart full of gold. Before leaving, Arthur pays for the Sundaes with a gold nugget, which surprises Charlie even more. Charlie watches Zephir put the gold nugget into the register which is full of gold nuggets, Charlie cannot believe those all came out of the mine, when he planted the nugget there. After leaving, Zephir reveals those are not real gold nuggets but instead rocks painted in gold paint. Meanwhile, Basil is still trying to find mud, he even uses a dowsing rod which eventually drags him to mud with Rataxes following. At the Palace, Pompadour notices not only Arthur's new suit but also that Arthur is not unhappy about his current situation, but Arthur assures him that he must focus on the pros. After he leaves, Pompadour decides to tell Babar about this.

At the mine, Arthur and Zephir are painting more gold rocks when Charlie arrives, they hide the paint cans and head inside the mine. Charlie soon sees a cart full of nuggets. He is now desperate and tells Arthur he wants to be a business partner with him, saying he'll do all the paperwork, Arthur needs a moment to think about this. Zephir and Arthur have almost succeed, Zephir tells him he should pay Arthur the same amount he bought it for, that way he'd get his money back. Meanwhile outside, Charlie is becoming even more desperate. While Arthur is about to close the deal with Charlie, Babar and Pompadour show up and he wants to talk to Arthur. He tells Arthur that while he understands why Arthur is angry at Charlie Digger, tricking him is not the answer. Arthur then fesses up about what he did and Charlie almost walks away but Pompadour tells Charlie he did a little deep digging and found out he has a history of tax fraud. Zephir tells Arthur he almost got his money back and Arthur agrees and glares at Babar, he apologizes but assures Arthur it was the right thing, and tells Arthur he can still make a living mining tin, but Arthur does not like that idea. Suddenly Basil and Rataxes show up with the dowsing rod and with one hit with a pickaxe, mud comes out of the rocks. Rataxes happy to see mud asks who owns the mine, Arthur says he owns it and Rataxes wants to buy it. Arthur lets him have it for the same price he paid for it. The mine is now a mud wallow and Arthur says he cannot remember the last time he saw Rataxes this happy. Basil does a mud cannonball where the mud flies everywhere and Rataxes yells: "BASIL!"
