Who Knew? (fully known as Who Knew? Laboratories) was an interstitial series airing on commercial breaks for HBO Family, first airing in 1999. It, alongside Smart Mouth was a spin off short series used to promote Crashbox, as the interstitial was hosted by one of the characters, Professor Rocket from the "Psycho Math" game. It's unknown if it aired on Magnet, but it continued to air after the block ended in 2005.
Synopsis[]
In each episode, which takes place in "Who Knew? Labs" Professor Rocket introduces himself and pulls a ruler screen down (same one used for the pictures in Psycho Math) and explains a fact about something typically unusual, such why rings are put on the middle finger or why lightning bugs can glow.
Episodes[]
While a person who worked on the show confirmed that 80 episodes of the show were produced and aired, nearly all of them are missing.
The only found shorts:
- Cockroaches (28): Cockroaches can live up to 10 days (a full week and 3 more days) without their head.
- Optical Illusions (29): Rays of light bending from heat create the watery illusion on a road known as a mirage.
- Bones (32): When born, you have 300 bones in body, but as you grow older you only have 206 bones due to them growing together.
- Twinkling Stars: Stars shine all the time in space with no interruptions, but since there's a lot of stuff going on in Earth's atmosphere, it appears as if they twinkle.
- Cats (54): Cat claws are hook-shaped, which is perfect for digging into trees and climbing up them, however they don't work climbing down because of their aforementioned shape.
- The Moon (51): A long time ago, many thought that the dark patches on the moon was water, until the invention of the telescope proved there was no water on the surface.
- Bad Breath (6): When we sleep at night, our stomach churn and the smelly gases rise up from our stomach into our mouth. Our morning breath is only made worse if you didn't brush your teeth!
- Rings (57): Wedding rings are placed on the middle finger because people believed that the vein is connected to the heart.
Unconfirmed:
- Fireflies (52)
- Sneezing (58)
- Swiss cheese (73)
- Diamonds (48)
- Ice cream sundae (77)
